Thank you to everyone who has already voted for us to be short listed to become NDNA’s nursery of the year 2017, we need as many votes as possible to ensure we get to show case the nursery to the NDNA’s judges so we would be most grateful if you could follow the link below and vote for Jigsaw.
Thank you
Tikes Lodge
Last week the children experienced their first week in the new building, it was a great success and a big hit with the children. Tikes Lodge is for our rising 3’s before they venture into our Tops Pre-school. As of next week the children in Tikes will start having allocated Phonics and Numeracy time with one of our qualified teachers, this will be with Hilda who has her QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). Starting the children on this fun learning experience will help prepare them for Top pre-school and their progression to being ‘School Ready’ an information letter with further information will be attached to Tikes monthly topic sheet for March.
Tops pre-school
Pre-school have been enjoying their time in the classroom learning but we have missed the input and Knowledge that Mrs Collins gave when she was working directly with the children. Sadly after much consideration Mrs Collins has decided to stay at home with her new baby and not return to teaching, this decision has now allowed us to recruit a new teacher to work with our pre-schoolers. Mrs Williams has a QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and has specialised in Early Years she is full of wonderful ideas and we can't wait for her to join our team on the 27th of February. A letter with further information about Mrs Williams and her plans and methods of teaching will be attached to Tops Pre-school topic sheet in March.
Nursery Photographer
We have planned for the Nursery Photographer to return and take the children’s pictures on 31st May and the 1st of June. If your child would not normally be attending on this day you are welcome to bring them along to have their pictures taken, please arrive at 9.30. Brothers and sisters who do not attend the nursery are welcome to have their photos taken too. We will remind you again closer to the date.
Extended 30 hours funding entitlement for 3 and 4 year olds
More information is becoming available regarding the criteria and how the funding can be claimed, please find attached a fact sheet of information which will be discussed at the next Patent’s Association meeting.
Save the date... Fun Day/Open day
On Saturday June the 3rd we will be having our annual fun day. We will be continuing to raise money to support our school in Malawi through the charity 3rd World Hope. There will be plenty of games to play, our delicious menu to sample and why not visit our new Tikes Lodge. More information to come closer to the date.
Out of School Club
At the beginning of this year we decided not to continue with our collection service and After School Club. It was a tough decision but we wanted to fully focus on the nursery and continue to give outstanding all round care to the children.
We are however continuing with our very popular Holiday Club which cares for children of school age throughout the school holidays. If you need holiday cover for your older children please ask the office for information.
Sainsbury’s Vouchers
We are collecting Sainsbury’s vouchers for the nursery, in the past it has enabled us to purchase some new equipment for the garden and the closing date isn’t until the 5th May so please keep collecting.
World Book Day 3rd of March
In the run up to World Book Day we have different activities planned throughout the week. To celebrate world book day and our love of books we have arranged for the published author Darren Rogers to come and read his book to the pre-school and Tikes children on Monday the 27th of February. We have also planned visits to the local library and Jigsaw’s new library to read our favourite books.
Opening hours
Can we please remind you of the nursery’s operating hours. The nursery opens at 7.15am and close and 6.15pm, anybody arriving before this time will not be allowed to enter the building for insurance reasons. Parents arriving after the closing time may incur a late pickup charge. The Out of School Club opens at 8.00am and closes at 6.00pm.
Parent’s association meeting
Our next meeting is scheduled for 29th March at 7.00pm until 8.00pm items for discussion are the excited 30 hours funding, fundraising events and nursery progression. Please advise a member of staff if you are attending the meeting.
We are always looking for ways to improve the service that we provide, if you ever have any concerns, questions or ideas please do speak to a member of the team as we are always happy to help and appreciate your input.
Thank you
